#DavidPomeranzInNagaCity
The firs two days of March for Naga City was star studded. Back to back events were scheduled for March 2, with a benefit concert by David Pomeranz and a live PBA game at the Jesse M. Robredo Coliseum.
I was privileged to welcome David Pomeranz at the airport together with the organizers of the benefit concert and Avenue Plaza Hotel staff. AirPhilExpress' plane arrived at around 9:30 am at the Naga Aiport and welcomed Sir David with banner and smiles.
Sir David's arrival at the Avenue Plaza Hotel.
Avenue Plaza Hotel was star studded for two days. APH was also the home of the San Mig PBA Team.
The board room was really spectacular that even Sir David was amazed with the gorgeous space.
David's primary purposes was to help raise fund for the rehabilitation of the original home of our Ina, Our Lady of Penafrancia. It's his first visit here in Naga and he was scheduled to visit the church in the afternoon the same day he arrived. David is not new anymore here in the Philippines since he has been a frequent visitor for almost 27 times for the last 15 years. Imagine the length of time he has spent here in our country, he must have felt the love here and Naga City is just as privileged to have him around.
His interest in maintaining the tradition and beauty of the church that can serve as inspiration to the people is what is important for him. Imagine the care and concern of Sir David for that "source of inspiration..Ina" for the people of Naga despite the difference in religion. Nakakatabang puso, there's the harmony and love despite the difference. No wonder, he is blessed with his career for the past 35 years and counting in being a singer and song writer.

March 2, 2013 - Concert Night
It was a night of struggle I suppose, as scheduled,we were to arrive at the tent at around 7:15 pm but I was out of luck in finding a good parking space. The whole strip of Magsaysay and a part of the Balatas Road near Avenue Square was in full parking. Even the gasoline stations and sidewalks were used as parking space. And so we arrived around 8 already just a few minutes before the start of the concert. You can just calculate how long I consumed in looking for that parking space. Lol
Opening performance was spectacular by the world class Baao Childrens' Choir (BCC) who recently won 1st place in the 18th International Contest of Habanera Youth 2012 held in Spain.
BCC sang five songs namely, Tuwing Umuulan, Circle of Life, Muntik na Kitang Minahal, Seasons of Love and a song that depicts a sound of a bird in Filipino language.
The BCC is indeed CamSur and Bicol's pride in promoting our culture and homegrown talent.
Sir David has a groovy way of attracting the audience and not to mention he can be a good ventriloquist haha. I, being among the crowd, felt like it was so nostalgic hearing songs during my childhood years being played during Sundays. Hearing the songs live makes it all the difference. I have never experienced any prom during my high school years, but hey, I heard the songs being used in every prom and it somehow compensates the real JS prom experience. It's different, but still it was a special moment, without the partner to dance with of course.
The songs he sang were a combination of his fellow artists like Barry Manilow and also his original ones:
On This Day
I Learned It All From You
Undying Admiration
(A Song from the Princess and the Frog movie)
(A song from the carpenters)
Trying to Get the Feeling Again
I Still Believe IN You
Crazy Beautiful
I Can Cleary See Now
Got to Believe In Magic
The Old Songs
King and Queen of Hearts
Born For You
After All
What Matters Most
Ms. Anabelle Regalado Borja sang If You Walked Away with Mr. David.
Fr. Andrew Recepcion joined Sir David in singing Got to Believe in Magic
What does Sir David Pomeranz have to say about Naga City?
'The sense of well being' there's the loveliness, the happiness in this city. Naga is a beautiful place
Thank you David!
Meet and greet with David Pomeranz of the premium ticket holders.
This is another wish fulfilled in my bucket list, to watch and hear an international artist perform live and to meet and greet David Pomeranz himself. Thank you to the organizers of the benefit concert, Fr. Andrew and the rest of the staff, Avenue Plaza Hotel and Ms. A for the undying support to Naga City Deck for this very rare opportunity. May you be blessed and more power!
